Easter basket in Ukraine has risen in price: how much will you have to pay
In Ukraine, the Easter basket in 2019 went up by 5.1% – to 532 hryvnia.
Thus, traditional Easter, eggs, sausage, pork, lard, butter, soft and hard cheese, horseradish and salt will cost Ukrainians 26 UAH more than last year, according to the website of the Institute of Agrarian Economics.
In particular, the cost of the main component of the Easter basket – Easter home baking – will be about 85 hryvnia per kilogram. At the same time, ready-made Easter will cost more in stores and supermarkets, since its price will depend on the ingredients.

The most expensive components of the festive basket this year will be meat products: 500 grams of homemade sausage will cost Ukrainians 104 hryvnias, cold boiled pork – 98 hryvnias, and bacon – 35 hryvnias.
Among dairy products most will have to pay for cheese – 71 hryvnia for 500 grams and butter – 70 hryvnia for 500 grams. In this case, cottage cheese will cost 32 hryvnia per kilogram.
At the same time, the cheapest products will be eggs – 24 hryvnia for 10 pieces, and horseradish – 12 hryvnia for 250 grams.
Filling the Easter basket with other ingredients, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, apples, red wine, will raise its cost to 711 hryvnia. This is 51 hryvnia, or 7.7%, more than in 2018.
According to the institute, for the fourth year in a row the cheapest Easter basket will be in the Ternopil region – 644 hryvnia, and the most expensive in Kiev – 830 hryvnia.
